MANILA - The price of chili has risen to P600 per kilo in some markets in Metro Manila, based on ABS-CBN News’ rotation in some markets in Metro Manila.
Chili is among the vegetables that have been rising in price in recent weeks.
Agriculture Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista explained that the increase in vegetable prices is due to a series of typhoons.
“Apart from ma’am, we also have other vegetables that are seasonal. We have other production areas that have been hit by Ulysses, so in this way, the yield of our producers will be reduced, the price will increase, “said Evangelista.
The price of chili is even higher than the price of pork which remains at P320 per kilo.
Apart from chili, the price of ampalaya, eggplant, cabbage, onion, garlic, tomato, potato, and every spinach of spinach and pechay has risen at Kamuning Market in Quezon City and Trabajo Market in Manila.

STRATEGY
The high price of vegetables is now a challenge for consumers and vendors.
Some shoppers like Zaide Magpantay, shop one piece at a time.
He said it is difficult for him to budget because almost all basic commodities have increased in price.
“My children are requesting mama, I want vegetables, I can’t buy them because they are made of very expensive vegetables, so we just do it one by one, just retail each other, one by one. vegetables, “said Magpantay.
Roel Ponte, who buys at Kamuning Market in Quezon City, also buys retail.
“We used to stock up,” Ponte said.
Some retailers like Florentina Manuel, used to sell vegetables at low prices, now they find it difficult to sell vegetables at high prices.
“Because it is difficult even if there is expensive goods, it is not possible,” he said.
Galunggong costs P200 per kilo, while tilapia costs P160.
The bangus is P180 per kilo while the farm girl is P280 per kilo.
The price per kilo of chicken is now P160 from P140.
But the department hopes that in the next 2 weeks or before Christmas, the prices of some vegetables will go down.
“I went to Nueva Vizcaya last week we have an area that was saved so hopefully we are looking and in about 2 weeks time the price of our vegetables should return to normal,” said Evangelista.
DA advises, Kadiwa stores can be enjoyed because the products here are cheaper.
