MANILA - The new drainage system at the University of Santo Tomas is nearing completion, according to a university official on Tuesday.
In the shared photos of Fr. Dexter Austria on his Facebook post, director of the UST Facilities Management Office, said the completion rate of the project is 75 percent.
He told ABS-CBN News that the drainage system is expected to be completed next year. It aims to prevent flooding in the university in the future.
“The leadership of the University of Santo Tomas is taking steps to improve the flood situation inside the university,” Austria told ABS-CBN News on Tuesday.
“This is for fellow Tomasinos who aspire and aspire not to experience or at least alleviate suffering during storms and floods,” he added.
According to Austria, he requested that through this new drainage system, the Tomasinos will not have to go down to the flood again.
“The phrase ‘Cannot be called Tomasino if you have not experienced the descent of the flood’ is expected to disappear from the mind and be replaced by ‘Every Tomasino becomes creative in the face of disaster and disaster'”
