San Juan City Mayor is ready to return to work after experiencing COVID-19

MANILA - San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora is ready to return to work after testing positive for COVID -19.

“Today is the last day of my quarantine. Officially, my 14th day of quarantine and tomorrow I will receive clearance from my doctor that I can be reintegrated back into the community, ”said Zamora.

In an interview with TeleRadyo, Zamora said he remained asymptomatic during his 14-day quarantine.

“I just had to undergo quarantine because my husband is a cancer survivor so I chose to move to the hospital from my home because I don’t want to infect him or any member of my family, especially my community. It would be better for me to stay in the hospital while I finish my quarantine, ”said Zamora.

Zamora tested positive for the virus on March 1 after undergoing swab testing in Feb. 28. When he found out that the result of the swab test was positive, he immediately tested his housemates and his staff.

“So far, no one has been positive in my household, including my staff. It’s hard to know where I got infected because every day, since last year, it’s been one year since we’ve been fighting COVID, our work has been continuous every day. We never stopped spinning, ”he said.

But even in the hospital, he said, he continues to work and monitor their COVID-19 interventions in the city.

When he returns, the mayor will first go around to inspect compliance with the city’s ordinances against COVID-19.

San Juan City is one of the companies that has recorded an increase in COVID-19 cases in Metro Manila. According to the mayor, they only had 30 active cases in February. 17. It doubled to 63 on March 1 but the number jumped significantly on March 12 where the number of their active cases reached 215.

Zamora also reminded to maintain minimum health protocols due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.
