MANILA - Authorities arrested the suspect in the shooting of an employee of the Office of the Ombudsman in Barangay San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City Monday morning.
The suspect is a 47-year-old man and a resident of Bayaya Street in Barangay Bungad, Quezon City.
According to the Quezon City Police District, they watched the suspect for almost a week as he moved from place to place.
“After almost a week of painstaking, with the help of the CCTV footage taken from the MMDA and barangays, the escape route of the suspect was tracked down and followed from the crime scene up to his residence. The last CCTV footage where the suspect entered was in Brgy. San Agustin, Novaliches, Quezon City. Thereat, the group concentrated on the area and utilized several grapevines to point-out the whereabouts of the suspect,” said QCPD District Director Brigadier General Nick Torre.
The incident happened on Wednesday, February 1.
Based on the police report, the victim was in front of a bank on Quezon Avenue when the suspect approached her and suddenly grabbed her bag.
This is where the suspect shot him and hit the victim’s right chest.
The suspect escaped.
The victim was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Two shell casings were recovered from the crime scene.
In the initial investigation by the police, theft is the possible motive for the incident.
