DAVAO CITY - The National Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Department of Health have conducted aggressive community testing in barangays in the city with a high number of COVID-19s.
Since the government’s Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) team arrived in the city on November 24, it immediately set up an emergency operations center and One Hospital Command to conduct mass testing in the community that began December 1.
According to Health Undersecretary Dr. Abdullah Dumama Jr. They target 10,000 residents in the Davao region to undergo mass testing, including tracking the close contacts of COVID-19 patients.
“This is the most effective way to prevent the spread of infection, and save lives. The backbone of this response is testing and isolation. And we expect after this, we shall be able to identify who really has the infections here. and we can treat that quickly, “said Dumama.
The El Rio Subdivision covered court brought residents undergoing mandatory swab testing.
On Wednesday, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Davao City hit 142. The next day, it recorded another 92 COVID-19 cases.
In total, there are 6,754 COVID-19 cases in Davao City of which 4,195 were cured and 303 died. Currently, there are 2,256 active cases of COVID-19 in the city.
The Davao City Health office is still studying whether it will add isolation centers for the expected increase in COVID-19 cases after community testing.
Davao City was placed under general community quarantine until the end of this month.
