MANILA-The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) has set up an antigen testing center inside their facility to allegedly curb passengers who falsify the COVID-19 test.
“We have ensured that there will be antigen testing here for the convenience of our compatriots and secondly to ensure that our antigen tests that the compatriots will show in the LGU are really authentic because we know there have been some instances of our countrymen to give the false antigen test [results], “said Jason Salvador, PITX corporate affairs and government relations head.
PITX is the terminal for trips to the southern provinces, where some LGUs are demanding a negative COVID-19 test result.
The PITX antigen test costs P850, which is said to be cheaper on the outside.
PITX laid out the process on their terminal:
• Book a trip online or at PITX bus counters 2 days before the desired departure
• Before the trip, the passenger must take an antigen test in the PITX open parking area where the result will appear in less than 1 hour.
• If negative, proceed to the PITX counter to obtain the boarding pass
• The passenger will go to the waiting area or gate and will also be asked for his / her travel documents before boarding
“The biggest challenge here is the protocols of local governments. You can’t blame them because they are very careful in accepting their compatriots to go home to his place. So this is the only thing that prolongs the process because the local government where the people in their jurisdiction are safe, “said Salvador.
Salvador stressed that they have coordination with the LGU to ensure that passengers travel as smoothly as possible.
